Cubic Orbit 20 Water Quality

Postby DerrickMazur » 02 Sep 2015, 01:02

I've been having a lot of trouble with the water quality in my orbit 20. I have had a phosphate spike and I cannot get rid of it. I feed two moon jellyfish once a day and I switch from ROE Eggs to cubic food. I syphon the food out after as well. I cannot get a beam on how to lower this spike i do water changes always twice a week. Id like to know if anyone else has this problem, or any solutions to it, or if you have never had this problem.. how do you keep the quality good?

Thanks,
Derrick

Ive just switched water to using real ocean water to make sure the water is always done right, I was using distilled water that I've heard is not the best. I have a feeling the ceramic media traps debris and I think i will need to clean them or just stop using them. there is no algae or very minimal at most.

this may be a daft question but can you just go down to the sea , bucket it up and probably put it through a filter to take out any foreign bodies and you can use it just like that without doing anything else ?

Yeah, that is actually something we recommend. Just make sure you get the temperatures the same and make sure you only use freshwater to top up evaporation.
