Jellyfish 'Ball' Syndrome

Unfortunately little is known about jellyfish disease. We regularly see jellies with very specific disease symptoms in our breeding system so we set up this forum section to share what we have learned.

Symptoms:
Bell margin is shrinking whilst the rest of the bell is staying the same size causing the jellyfish to turn into a ball shape.

Cause:
We are not sure what causes this. We have found this consistently happens to a small percentage of jellies and the rate of jellies effected by this condition is not significantly effected by changes in aquarium conditions. One jellyfish can often be seen effected by this condition in an aquarium otherwise full of healthy jellyfish.

Treatment/Solution:
Once this condition has appeared we have found it to be irreversible. We do not currently know how to stop this condition from taking effect.
